Back when I was in Year Nine, I think, I was doing Home Economics and had to prepare an international menu and invite a guest to eat my meal. Most of the others invited their mothers but, as I didn't have mine around, I chose to instead invite a lovely older lady who was a teacher at the school. She was Hungarian and, as she spoke English with quite a bit of difficulty, she had been having a rather torrid time with trying to fit in to our small-town, country school. The majority of students, and even teachers and parents, were not accepting of her at all. She was such a lovely lady and I am sad that I have forgotten her name. I can't even remember what I served her, though I prepared a full Hungarian menu in her honour.

Great to have you pop in again, KekPafrany! Slurp Grouphug

So it seems, yes Smiling ...but it isn't 'public knowledge' yet so will confirm when/if confirmation is forthcoming. I wanted to let you know so you can start planning/saving if you wanted to go, and if it didn't work out, well, you'd have a little bit of $$ nicely tucked away for buying BoD and something else! P

It was a significant cost for my son and I to attend Robin's visit early last year, and it was a rather last minute-ish decision for her to come to Australia, so the more time you have to prepare, the better. Flowers

EDIT: @ Narya: Thanks for the code idea, Narya! I will defintiely use that the next time a link is being moody! Flowers
one reason it is not confirmed yet, 'thul thinks lies in the fact that it is nearly a year away. You usually do not set plans in stone that far ahead.

oh, and hungarians are interesting creatures. 'thul knows at least one other hungarian, even if he's in the process of becoming swedish.
Yes indeed, better to be informed of possible events well in advance, especially if those events are based in London! Everything costs twice as much down there Ouch So I thank you Farseer for letting me know Big Grin

I'm just a bit shy Smiling

I don't have too much affinity for languages either, I can understand your teacher's situation. I can write, but speak? Well, I would be a laughing material, if I ever had to do it Turned

That's not rarely nowdays, I know someone turning into finnish.
Our economy is in an awfully bad shape. The government finds out more and more silly things to tax, so it can happen we will really have to pay taxes for paying taxes.. (I hear so many 'yo daug' jokes these days).

More and more friends and acquaintances of mine leave or plan to leave this land.
which is a bit sad, since hungary is actually a nice place... 'thul have been on vacation there a couple of times...
Well let those that are leaving avoid Britain like the plague...we're in a right ole' mess and they'd be like to leave as quick as they came in! I'd go if I could, don't know where I'd go, but go I would.

And Kekpafrany don't be shy, we don't bite (well, that Lord of the Three realms likes to think he does, but he's a proper softy really) and your language is fine and shouldn't worry you at all. I speak English only and northern English at that..a language all of it's own Wink
Hungry! fool-ish meat?

This is actually a nice place... you'll like it here...

Have updated news on all of this in the Robin's Upcoming Appearances thread. Happyballoon

I find it interesting that people typically want to get out of their own countries, lol. Whereas, if I could.. London or it's surrounding area (within an hour by car or train) is where I would live until I hit 50 or so (in which case then it would be time for sand and ocean). I know there's a LOT about London I should hate, or would hate, but the most important part is what matters: music.

The music I listen to pretty much originates out of London these days (the producers and what not) and on any given weekend the line-up of a show is better than what I'd get to see in a lifetime here in the states. Oh t'would be glorious! Wub

It's the old adage 'the grass is always greener' I suppose, though quite often, it's really not. I know people who have moved overseas to warmer climes, Spain e.g. but then they've returned and for many and varied reasons, but one (and perhaps an odd one at that) is that they missed the rain!! Truly, there's no end of the stuff here at the moment and it's very cold for the time of year too. I'd flit to Spain in a flash right now! Cool
