3G coverage, which, I have discovered, is required for the use of a Kindle, is very limited here in Australia (to mostly the capital cities, main metropolitan areas and coastal regions where the majority of our population lives).

Outside of these 3G hotspots, we do have quite good Next G mobile coverage (that is nothing like 3G) in many regional and remote areas but there is a whole lot of space in our country that is not covered by any network...I am definitely IN one of those spaces Down !

That being so, for all of my lengthy sermon above about the glories of technology, bla, bla, bla, bla, bla, I doubt I will be buying a Kindle or converting over to ebooks anytime soon...it would take me a good, six-hour drive just to be able to get somewhere where I could download something Crying !

If anyone knows different, please let me know.

As much as I LOVE actual books, I AM very interested in exploring the ebook option because it would be such a benefit for me to be able to receive a book immediately rather than have to wait for an order to be fulfilled and then the mail to arrive...in the long run, I think ebooks would also be a cheaper alternative to having to pay the purchase price of the book and then postage etc on top.

With this in mind, I have downloaded Kindle for PC and successfully purchased a couple of RH books for storage on my computer (which I can apparently transfer to an Australian Kindle DX later, should I wish to buy one Yay). This way I don't seen to have to worry about 3G coverage...it's only a problem if I want to download directly to a Kindle (at least that's my understanding now!).

My only concern so far is that I can't seem to enlarge the maps and they are very difficult to read...while I have memorised the RotE ones and don't need to refer to those anyway :exclamation: , I DO need to be able to see the maps for the Soldier Son trilogy, and those for any other books which I may like to read later. Any pointers?

Geeees we don't have 3G coverage either - you'd think you would be able to just use your regular internet connection either wirelessly from the Kindle or by plugging it into your laptop/PC that has internet......

I can see it'd be good to use the Kindle by direct connection ...... but for those who aren't in 3G area.... useless!
