Good books, though... RE: Reading year in review - joost - Jan-15-2011 Two more: - Manda Scott: Boudica quadrilogy. Historical fiction based on queen Boudica (Boadicea), an Iceni warrior queen who lived around 60 AC. - Jude Fisher: Fool's gold. A bit standard 'vikings vs arab society' fantasy, but it's a nice read. Ending feels a bit rushed though. But really. Read Mary Gentle. I know it's blasphemous to write this here, but I love her books more than Robin Hobb's. RE: Reading year in review - joost - Jan-18-2011 One more female author: Marjorie B. Kellogg - The dragon quartet. A bit too 'eco' (and no, I don't mean Umberto) from time to time, but I really liked these four books. RE: Reading year in review - Nuytsia - Jan-19-2011 Yeah it stuck in my mind and I only read it recently.... but don't ask me where I read it cos I've already forgotten!! It could have been an old comment... she might have a new fav now. That's pretty high praise in my book. Also Joost great suggestions, there's some authors there I've been thinking of maybe trying out so now I will have to! |
