RE: art... - 'thul - Jun-07-2011

these beings may rework the skin scale style sometime, perhaps also try to learn some better means of rendering the surfaces...

the skin is actually fully scaled, but the lines arent all that clear. Also an area these beings may consider improving.

Yes, this is the kind of thing I was thinking of, too, but in a more tiara-like style. It appears that my negative feelings for certain characters have coloured how attentively I read them however ( Blushing !!) as I have just found this passage regarding Malta's crest, from SOD, Chapter Twenty, 'Prisoners':

Quote:The scar was far worse than she had imagined. It stood up, a double ridge of pale, rippling flesh that reached almost to her nose and disapeared in her hair. She had touched the lumpy cicatrix in disbelief...

From this, it is apparent that her crest is positioned much as it is on your dilaphosaurus, redchild.

So true! It appears that Elderlings often had many physical variations. More on than later though, in a different location... Smiling

EDIT: Oh, I also added a spoiler tag for RWC and LST.

RE: art...(LST and RWC spoilers) - 'thul - Jul-17-2011

They've near finished the wings now, after a long break in the work. Still need to truly attach them to the body, but otherwise they are mostly done shape-wise. The texturing still needs work, but that will have to wait for later...

The images in that trailer did give some ideas for facial structure. Unfortunately there were far too few images to get good ideas for some of the parts, like the clothes.
The claws were a bit of help, though...

Constructed wings:

Here are a few slightly newer images.
These beings have on them restructured the back musculature to support wings, scaled the wings up a bit so they are more likely to be able to hold her aloft in flight, and altered several of the textures.

These beings have now also begun constructing the clothes, which is a slow process since they have to be made from scratch, and they have to be fairly detailed to fit the body.

First piece only looks like some sort of top so far, but it should eventually become some form of shirt. At least the model is no longer without any clothes.

RE: art...(LST and RWC spoilers) - 'thul - Jul-21-2011

These beings figured that you might want a small update on the distance they have come on the model...

They finished the base design for the shirt yesterday, and began the leggings this morning...

RE: art...(LST and RWC spoilers) - Farseer - Jul-23-2011

I can't comment much as I have no knowledge or talent in this area at all (yes, I know...this lack doesn't tend to stop me contributing to the rest of the threads on here! P ) BUT I do enjoy seeing your updates, 'thul!

Oh, and I forgot to tell you that my daughter was mortified when she came in and saw me checking out Thymara's bare backside the other week, so clothes can only be a positive step forward! Big Grin

RE: art...(LST and RWC spoilers) - 'thul - Jul-23-2011

*grins*

The clothes have gotten a bit further now... though the back is still fairly bare... They're working on making new wing membrane currently.

Do you remember what parts of the body are stretched extra in Elderlings? was it just hands/feet, or was it also the legs and arms?

RE: art...(LST and RWC spoilers) - Farseer - Jul-27-2011

As well as the hands and feet, Elderling limbs were also longer (elongated) when compared to humans. I thought necks were longer as well but will have to double-check that from somewhere...although if proportion is to be kept, this would make sense regardless? Undecided

RE: art...(LST and RWC spoilers) - 'thul - Jul-28-2011

These beings get the feeling that Elderlings do not follow the human 1:1.6 proportionality. They do not know quite what sort of proportionality there is in dragonkind, but they have a strong feeling it isn't 1:1.6. If that is true, then it is likely that Elderlings change towards having such proportionality rather than the human set.

They have mostly finished the improved wing membrane, but they've yet to make a screenshot of it.

'thul doubt that RH would have made such a major point about the lengthened limbs if they simply were effectively taller.
Perhaps Elderlings are fairly short of torso, but have unnaturally long limbs?

I'm trying to decipher this so forgive me if I make a mash of it! Smiling

*Farseer spoiler?*
I did, indeed, get the impression that Elderlings were simply taller, ah, kind of stretchier (?!) versions of humans? I have an image in my mind but how to describe it I have no idea!

Okay. Here's a picture of the Grand Councilwoman from Disney's Lilo and Stitch as she, with a more human-looking head and feet, probably matches my image regarding Elderling 'shape' better than anything else I can come up with at the moment:

Looking at her, I guess it could be said that her torso is fairly short in comparison to her limbs?

Why is it when I think of something in one thread, I must go and put something related to it in another?!
