Funny I just posted a thread on the Patrick Rothfuss FB page about this very same thing.
I do think that in the last few years cover art has gotten a lot better but for years it was so horrible what they did to really good work. No matter what the book was about everything looked like a Terry Brooks cover. I think it's the one area that could really be improved on in the whole genre...

Luckily, I haven't lived through those terrible days. Most books on my shelves actually have pretty nice covers. However, due to the website Good Show Sir, I am well aware of the awfulness of bygone days.

I so very much want to read this book, though:
