That does indeed look like an Elderling crest, but that raises just more questions. Like: didn't Malta have black hair? (EDIT: Just noticed what you guys said about her hair in previous posts.) And didn't she have more scaling? Unless, indeed, this is from the beginning of her transformation... at which time I seem to remember her being thirteen.

yes, it is a bit inconsistent there...
By the time the crest was that prominent, there were hints of scaling elsewhere... and her hair changed slower than the rest... oh, and there's the age discrepancy you pointed out, albertosaurus...

I must say that, while I thought the crest was completely different to how I imagined it, the riddly Farseer in me quite likes the thought of it being like a chicken crest and how this ties in with a Rooster Crown, especially with it being Reyn's family crest.
