RE: art...(spoilers all RotE books) - Farseer - Mar-20-2013 It looks terrific (though I know I don't truly understand the hard work that would have gone into all of that detailing! ![]() Do you do such things just for fun or do you also make a little of your bread with such fine work? RE: art...(spoilers all RotE books) - 'thul - Mar-21-2013 only fun so far. We did make a company logo a few weeks ago, but that too was free work. But who knows what the future'll bring? RE: art...(spoilers all RotE books) - Valarya - Mar-21-2013 I always imagined the crest to be front-to-back. Like something that ran along the middle of her skull/scalp and came down in the middle of her forehead a bit. If it's any consolation. ![]() RE: art...(spoilers all RotE books) - 'thul - Mar-21-2013 That is just how 'thul imagined it as well... RE: art...(spoilers all RotE books) - Farseer - Mar-22-2013 Truly, though we all may read the same book, we're not ever really reading the very same story, are we? How we interpret the text makes for a unique story for every individual, every time. It always amazes me... ![]() RE: art...(spoilers all RotE books) - 'thul - Mar-22-2013 Only when books can truly record emotions and project them upon reading can it begin to approach the point of everyone reading the same books. But it will of course also have to add in the part where the book gives the experience to give reader the right understanding of each setting/term. In CoD, the crest is occasionally referred to as 'crown'. RE: art...(spoilers all RotE books) - 'thul - Mar-22-2013 That could indicate that perhaps there's grown in smaller crests beside it to form a "crown" in sum? a bit of haphazard research into "crowns" on scaled creatures revealed that at least as snakes go, a crown is basically an area around the head (typically on the back) where scales have a different color than the rest of the body. Still, it is clear that the crown in the book is more than merely different scale color. It still doesn't make any sense to have a crest go sideways across head or in a circumferential pattern (out all around head) RE: art...(spoilers all RotE books) - Valarya - Mar-24-2013 (Mar-22-2013, 04:04 AM (UTC))Farseer Wrote: Truly, though we all may read the same book, we're not ever really reading the very same story, are we? I have a buddy who reads the same series as me at the same time just so we can freshly discuss every detail. It's interesting how much stuff he catches, I don't - or how he interprets things differently.. and of course, vice versa! Definitely a neat thing. ![]() |
