RE: The urge to create - 'thul - Oct-11-2010 That guess would be related to the truth. RE: The urge to create - Atthis - Oct-11-2010 Not Norway? Oh, then consider me stumped as well! I think you'll just have to tell us. RE: The urge to create - 'thul - Oct-11-2010 'thul is from Niflheim, the frozen hell of norse mythology. It is too warm outside these days. That was my next guess! ![]() RE: The urge to create - 'thul - Oct-13-2010 'thul seriously doubt that. RE: The urge to create - Albertosaurus Rex - Oct-20-2010 Well, I have finally received a message from that magazine. On their site, they promise to respond within two months, but after 2,5 months of waiting and hearing nothing, I mailed them. I received a short message saying that they had mailed me before (no they haven't...) and that my story is not suitable for their mag. Not suitable? What does that mean? That it's good, but not the kind of story they want? Or that they think it's crap? I could use some elaboration, people! Ah well, as discouraging as it is, it's one story and one magazine. I'll look for another place to publish my story. Meanwhile, the deadline for my newspaper's story competition is today. I don't know yet when they'll announce the winners, but it should be soon. And probably on a saturday. I have no idea if I make any chance, but since all the entries have been posted on the newspaper's site, I can say this: at least it stands out from the crowd. You can't say that without sharing the site as well, AR!!! Yes, some constructive feedback from the magazine would be helpful. Certainly there may be a time issue of sorts (on the magazine's part) but you did take the time to submit your story to them and therefore deserve SOMETHING in return, even if it's only an extra paragraph of detail?! RE: The urge to create - Albertosaurus Rex - Oct-21-2010 To be fair, I thought that would be of no use, since most of you don't speak Dutch. But I'll post my story here. I won't attempt to translate it, though; although my english is quite fluent, I don't feel up to task of either composing or translating a story in English. Also, it's extremely short because the limit was 700 words. Quote:Hoeder van de vergeetpoel The winners will be announced on october 30th. I didn't even consider this, sorry ![]() Here's wishing you well with the outcome ![]() RE: The urge to create - Nuytsia - Oct-22-2010 Don't be discouraged about the magazine, I hate to think how many times Robin Hobb or any other successful author has had a story rejected! I probably shouldn't admit this but I put your story through Google translate - sorry to mangle your words!!! I just thought I might get the gist of it, and I think I did. It seems like the theme is something like there is no pleasure without pain in life! I really liked it from what I could understand. |
