RE: What are you reading right now? (possible RotE spoilers) - fool-ish - Jan-30-2012 Yes he is..unlike his brother! I read the whole of the appendix when I'd finished too which helped greatly. The Targaryen line has to be the most complicated, by far, so many of them and of the same names! RE: What are you reading right now? You're definitely not alone in your crush on The Hound, fool-ish. Lots of people like him and sooooo much fan-fiction has been made surrounding him and his little bird, hahah. ![]() In regards to the Targaryen family tree/history... if you ever have any questions I feel like a freaking expert Historian on that line. Almost as if I had studied the Tudor Dynasty... but instead, one that doesn't even really exist. ![]() ![]() RE: What are you reading right now? (possible RotE spoilers) - fool-ish - Jan-30-2012 I'm so glad it's not just me that's crushing! ![]() ![]() I don't have any specific questions re the Targaryens at the moment. But if and when I do, I'll know who to come to for the answers! ![]() RE: What are you reading right now? (possible RotE spoilers) - joost - Jan-31-2012 I finished I''s last night and, true to my word, started with Gulliver's travels. I found that book while searching old boxes with books that have been stashed under my bed for about 5 years (and before that were stored in a garage for another 5 years). I forgot how good that book is. RE: What are you reading right now? (possible RotE spoilers) - Albertosaurus Rex - Feb-02-2012 You know why I post so little these days? It has nothing to do with you guys, I like you all as much as I ever did... it's my Iphone. I rarely use my old laptop these days because my Iphone is wonderful... but it's a real hassle to type messages on that thing! Anyway, on to my reading. I have finally finished God Stalk, which was a bit disappointing. There are hints of an overarching storyline, but most of the book revolved around the confusing politics of the city Tai-Tastigon. According to my sources on the internet, neither Tai-Tastigon nor any of its inhabitants are seen again in the rest of the series and the main storyline only kicks off in the next books. In other words, it's a really, really long prologue. I'm now reading R. Scott Bakker's The Darkness That Comes Before. I actually first tried reading it a few years ago but eventually put it down. I have since read two other books by the same author: Disciple of the Dog, which I thought was decent, and Neuropath, which is absolutely brilliant. So I'm giving the book a second chance now. (possible RotE spoilers) - Valarya - Feb-02-2012 I think I'm going to set my Eragon re-read down for a while and pick up a book my buddy says is fantastic. So fantastic, in fact, he's actually READING it. This is a shock because he only listens to audiobooks, typically. He said this book is so good, he got to work the other day and didn't want to stop listening, so he bought a copy on his Nook and started reading at work! It's called Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. I'm quite excited to give it a try, actually. ![]() RE: What are you reading right now? (possible RotE spoilers) - Albertosaurus Rex - Feb-11-2012 This time I managed to get through The Darkness That Comes Before and I liked it quite a lot. I'm now reading the sequel The Warrior Prophet. RE: What are you reading right now? (possible RotE spoilers) - 'thul - Feb-11-2012 these beings are about one fifth or so through the nth re-read of DH. RE: What are you reading right now? (possible RotE spoilers) - joost - Feb-11-2012 Clive Barker - Abarat: Absolute midnight I've had this one on the shelf for almost 3 months now. Seven years after book 2: GRRM isn't the only one doing that... I loved the first two books, so I'm looking forward to this. |
