I used to play the first Black & White and played a little of BW2. Never finished either of them as I tend to find myself micromanaging, juggling between quests, building structures and fixing up my villages after an attack by enemy creatures Dodgy It just took way too much time. They've got great soundtracks, though.

It's also funny how the first time you play a game it seems so hard. Then by the second run you wonder why you had difficulty in the first place. I remember I had so much trouble fighting bosses in Grandia 2 the first time but afterwards I could kill any boss in my sleep.

Maybe I should give the Black and White games another try and possibly even beat them for once P

Black and white does tend to require micromanagement... These beings had no problems with victory though... Just build some walls and use godly powers to wreak havoc on enemy forces... large boulders are very nice to use against enemy platoons... just lure them close by opening gate, then close it shortly before they enter and crush away with a handy boulder... just remember to keep it within your influence area and you can use the same boulder all the time... Enemy soldiers tend to dislike having 50 tons of boulder on top of themselves...

Ok so I played Black and White again and gave up....again. I just didn't want to invest that much time into it and it got pretty redundant fast. Thanks to Youtube, though I finally get to see the ending.

I'm actually kinda glad I didn't make myself beat the game. Just watching someone else play the final Nemesis level made me wonder how many countless hours and days I would have spent on it.

These beings picked up a version of Elder scrolls IV: Oblivion again, with a rather large quantity of mods... especially in the area of the character models.

Have you gotten the dragon mount mod? It's so fun.

RE: The grand videogame thread - 'thul - Jun-08-2011

These beings have not acquired that. They decided to jump over to mass effect 2 yesterday, though...

I've recently been trying to get a working copy of Frontier 2: First Encounters (Elite 3) that I can get working on DOSBOX. I also loved games like Cadaver by the Bitmap Brothers that I had on the Amiga in the 90s and now have on said PC DOSBOX. I loved the old text adventures in late 80s and 90s and am picking them up as freeware at the various Abandonware sites just now. Point and clickers (Indina Jones, Monkey Island, Beneath a Steel Sky, Broken Sword etc.) are also awesome

In spite of my heavily nostalgic outlook, I am actually also a bit of 'gadget boy' and have most of the recent consoles (Wii being my favourite). I do enjoy the Zelda, Super Metriod, Mario and Res Evil series.

These beings just finished playing through Mass Effect 2. They had plentiful success at it, achieving almost all the achievements possible with a single character of that type. a couple of them due to mistakes, the rest due to not trying hard enough on just that. The remnant would require different character type or difficulty setting.

This game was much better than mass effect 1, of that there is no doubt...

Yup, me!
I found it to be a real disappointment though.......

Hey I just saw a thing on TV for Rayman!
Now I know what it is! I guess that's the new one that you don't like the look of Albertosaurus....

RE: The grand videogame thread - Albertosaurus Rex - Jul-08-2011

I guess so. That, or it was Rayman 3DS, which is yet another port of Rayman 2. I'm serious, they seem intent on porting it to every system in existence. When it first came out it was released for PC, Nintendo 64, Playstation, Playstation 2, Sega Dreamcast... and later Nintendo DS, and the Iphone, and now the 3DS... not that I'm complaining, since I happen to think it's one of the greatest games ever.

In fact, that's what the new game should be doing: it should try to top Rayman 2. Sure, a 2D game can be fun, but I want a grand 3D platformer. And Rayman 3 was great, and I liked that it tried new things, but it wasn't as good as #2. Also, they're trying to reconcile the first game with the sequels - bad idea! The setting of the first game was abandoned, just keep using the universe established in Rayman 2/3/M. Bring back the pirates - Razorbeard's still alive and his revenge is long overdue. And while we're at it, reveal those bunnies to have been nothing more than a bad dream Rayman had.
