For those who think 'Tove who?': She created the Moomins. Very nice exhibition! After that I went to the permanent exhibition, where there was a lot of Kuifje (Tintin), Suske & Wiske (Bob & Bobette / Willy & Wanda), Guust Flater (Gomer Goof), and more characters from Dupuis.

Hehe weird, I saw something about Tove Jansson somewhere on the web recently and I thought where do I know that name from? So then when I saw your post I knew! Ok Moomins and Tintin I know, but you lost me after that ....

I just had to look this up on wiki ....... so, was he wearing a costume?

I took the English (/US) names from the Wikipedia page. Here are some pictures:

These beings guessed incorrectly on the first ones then... They'd never have guessed the latter, despite having read it several times, but the reason for that is that they read it translated, and the name on the translation was "Viggo", which does not really resemble Guust Flater (Gomer Goof) all that much...

I'm back. Exhausted but glad that everything went well. No photos from me, simply didn't have time for that, but I'll try to post some "Finnish forest" photos later in the photography thread for Nyutsia. Smiling

Oh, and yay Moomins! (I trust you guys know they're Finnish...? If you ever visit my home town, you must see the Moominvalley museum!)

RE: What's happening in your world? - 'thul - Aug-02-2010

These beings know that the Moomins are finnish... Who else could think up such a strange name?

Most of the material on display was on loan from the Tampere museum.

hehehe not ringing any bells for me ... but then again I am not a comic afficionado so it's no surprise that I am clueless !

Glad to hear it went well Mervi. Heheh thanks for future pics!
I knew Moomins are Finnish - I think that's why I always wanted to go to Finland - the early influence of having some of those Moomins books!! Yay!!!

Happening in my world:

Today we planted 3 apple trees and a quince tree..... gees I'm actually a bit sore now - sooooo unfit!!! It's pretty hard work digging and shovelling our soil though, as it's VERY clayey.
