Mervi, I have just discovered that there are actually TWO Book Depository sites - one is the uk site that you already have added/linked to but there is also this one (**please don't click on this .com one and order yet as it will not benefit thePlenty until Mervi has added thePlenty's details to the link!**).

Some books do appear to be cheaper on one site than the other and there are also different covers available from each. While some people online have thought this all to be a part of a BD scam, it's apparently just the BD approach to local/different markets. Anyway, thought you may like to investigate further, Mervi (like you have nothing else to do Smiling !) ?

Thanks, Farseer. Smiling I knew about the .com, I just always assumed it was a redirect/offered the same selection. I will need to investigate this further. (I'm also planning on adding affiliate links for abebooks & audible if they accept my applications.)

RE: Advertising / affiliate programs - your opinion is wanted - Farseer - Dec-07-2010

I guess it's no different to Amazon having a UK and US site? The .com seems to have more American-type books that come up on the Home page...actually the first book featured was authored by none other than the US Pres Barack Obama - 'Of Thee I Sing'! Of course, he was a published author many years ago but, still, it's interesting to know that someone with his schedule can continue to churn out a book now and then!

Good idea to add AbeBooks, I think - they seem to always have quite a number of fantastic titles that are otherwise out of stock elsewhere Clapping .

I'm glad you asked about bookdepository.com, Farseer. I was just about to do it myself!

It seems to me like most books are actually slightly cheaper on the .com site than on the .co.uk site (at least for Aussies - I guess it depends on the exchange rate).

It's definitely worth adding the .com as an affiliate link here if you can, Mervi. I'd use it for sure!

RE: Advertising / affiliate programs - your opinion is wanted - Mervi - Dec-10-2010

Okay, a little update. You can find links to all the current affiliate programs at the bottom of the main forum page. The newest additions are audible.co.uk and abebooks.com. I'm still waiting to hear back from bookdepository.com, abebooks.co.uk and audible.com It's really messy with all the different versions and the fact that I had to sign up using different affiliate network sites (TBD uses it's own system but it's separate for both stores. abebooks.com is partnered with google while abebooks.co.uk and both audibles use commission junction) Lots of logins from now on when I want to change banners etc! I also have to say that some of these programs have set the limit of when they actually pay quite high (well, high for a small site like this) so I don't actually expect these to start generating a lot of revenue. But hey, if the cents pile up and pay for the hosting every few years, that's fine with me too! I'm thankful for every little bit. Thankful
Umm... what else? Audible seems to pay for both when someone signs up as a member and for a la carte sales. Abebooks says they'll pay "up to 5%" of the sale. I haven't really had time to really dig into these yet. But ask away if there's something you want to know or let me know if you have problems. (Hmm. I don't like the audible link, it leaves my browser "loading" the page even when everything is there. I'll need to look into this.)

So these are the newest clickables for you Smiling

Abebooks.co.uk has been added! (My experience is that Abebooks is GREAT when you're trying to find the out-of-print Megan Lindholm titles. I've found an excellent hardback copy of [[The Unicorn Treasury]] there as well as a nice reading copy of [[Magical Beginnings]].)

RE: Advertising / affiliate programs - your opinion is wanted - Mervi - Dec-17-2010

Aaand here's the bookdepository.COM link!
<a href="http://www.bookdepository.com?a_aid=ustheplentynet&amp;a_bid=398795b5"><img src="http://affiliates.bookdepository.com/accounts/default1/banners/234-x-60_reversed.jpg" alt="The Book Depository" title="The Book Depository" width="234" height="60" /></a><img style="border:0" src="http://affiliates.bookdepository.com:8080/scripts/imp.php?a_aid=ustheplentynet&amp;a_bid=398795b5" width="1" height="1" alt="" />
A bit late for the holiday shopping I'm afraid. Oh, and it looks like audible.com has declined my application (for whatever reason since none was given, it could be as simple as they have a cap on the number of advertisers at any given time) ... which is a bummer since so many RH audio titles have been released in the US lately. But I think you can buy those through amazon.com but from audible anyway right?

Thanks for all of the extra work you've put in, Mervi Flowers !

It is the Bookdepository link, it tries to connect to http://affiliates.bookdepository.com:8080/ and nothing seems to be listening on port 8080 there (or it is firewalled on their side).
