Yeah it seems like that's usually what happens, unless of course the comedy relies on the viewer knowing something the character in the show doesn't. I can't tell for sure from that scene whether it would have been subtitled or not!!! It could sort of work either way. Also some of the Dutch words are similar to English so you can get the gist of some of it.

Although there was one episode with a Dutch girl. Before her nationality was revealed, I thought she was supposed to be French.

Yay they're showing The League of Gentlemen again, and after watching it tonight I realised I'd never seen the very first episode. Explains a few things.....
