Go forth to TV Tropes! - Albertosaurus Rex - Jul-01-2010
I don't know if any of you are aware of the site TV Tropes. Basically, it is a wiki dedicated to the analysis of fiction. Of course there is a page about Robin Hobb, which I recently revamped. While there's a lot on RotE and Soldier Son, there is really nothing about her Lindholm novels (I had to add the list you see myself.). I just wanted to give you guys the heads up: if you have any insights to share on RH's work (Or that of ML), don't hesitate to chime in. The site's unique terminology takes a while to get used to, but I find it to be an entertaining passtime. TV tropes will ruin your life!
And of course I have a contributor's page there: Albertosaurus.

Sadly I have not read any thing of Lindholm's novels so I can't add to that section of the wiki. But I will def be having a look at the site and seeing if you guys make any changes

Oh, be sure of some changes. The Realm of the Elderlings books have actually been analysed pretty well, bu the ting is, all references across the whole wiki to those books still point to the page about Robin Hobb herself, because those books originally didn't have a seperate page. Now *all* those references have to be redirected...
And thank you for the compliment. It's deceptively hard to adapt the Anticipation Guy...

Had a very fleeting look just now, AR, and noticed straight away that 'Words Like Coins' is missing from the list of RotE-related short stories...thought I'd let you know as I believe it to be important to an overall understanding of the main books?

As it has only been previously available for purchase by Amazon readers in the US (and I therefore haven't yet read it), I am assuming that 'The Inheritance' will be one of the short stories that will appear in Robin's anthology of the same name (the one you mean), due to be released next year. As far as I can tell, this short story is mentioned/detailed on the TV Trope page as "a short story detailing a girl regaining her family's prestige in Bingtown". I assume this from other reviews I have read.
The prequel that is referred to on the Trope would be 'Homecoming' which details the settlement of the Rain Wilds and this short story appears in Legends II.
The related story that is missing, 'Words Like Coins', is a short story of Robin's which features in A Fantasy Medley by Subterranean Press. Here's a little blurb: Robin Hobb revisits her Farseer world in “Words Like Coins.” Mirrifen, a failed hedge-witch’s apprentice who has married to find security finds that threatened by a severe drought and the appearance of a pregnant female pecksie. It may make an appearance in the upcoming anthology but I doubt it.

Time to dust off that link again. I just went there for another series I finished, which was very thoroughly analyzed. I think more could be done for Hobb's books.
