Thundercats - Albertosaurus Rex - Sep-13-2011 Is anyone else here following the new Thundercats series? To answer your questions: yes it's a kids' show, but I find that it is good enough to watch. I have never seen the original show, which is virtually unknown in the Netherlands. So I can only judge this remake on its own merits, and I have to say, I enjoy it a lot. It looks like they're trying to draw a similar audience to Avatar: The Last Airbender (plus fans of the old show of course), of which the anime-inspired artstyle is vaguely reminiscent. Storywise, it's nothing we haven't seen before (bunch of cat-people on the run trying to save the world), but it's executed very well. My only real complaint is about character development: nearly all of it so far goes to Lion-O, with a tiny smattering for Tygra, Cheetara and Panthro and basically none for Wilykit and Wilykat. Oh, and the names, the characters' names are really lame - they're lions and tigers and panthers, WE GET IT! Trailer: And should you decide to watch... the third episode ("Ramlak Rising", the one with the fish people) is horrendously bad. Please don't let it put you off. Episode 7 ("Legacy") is my favorite so far. RE: Thundercats - Farseer - Sep-18-2011 (Sep-13-2011, 02:40 PM (UTC))Albertosaurus Rex Wrote: Is anyone else here following the new Thundercats series? Not me, sorry AR ...not that it's on any channels we have here at the moment though.I did watch it in spits and spurts when my boys were younger but that's about the extent of my Thundercats experience, and I find it difficult to recall. RE: Thundercats - Albertosaurus Rex - Sep-19-2011 Aaaaand now the show is on six week hiatus. Just when I was starting to get really into it. Oh well, My Little Pony's back now. |
