Huhhh, how many spam Down

Can you make boards and move topics? Then you could make a board what the common user can't see, and move the spam there

(we do this with questionable topics in our forums, so it is neither deleted nor visible until deleting is decided)

If you have the ability to move topics, try moving the spam to the finnish section. Then Mervi can clean it up later.

Nope, I can only do things with messages in the Dutch subforum.

I've sent Mervi a mail at her theplenty mailaddress asking to make me a full admin so I can delete things, but haven't heard from her yet.

I am so sorry guys. There is something really fishy going on - basically all the countermeasures against spam had been deactivated in the control panel. It's going to take me awhile to clean and fix this but I'm doing it now. (I'm still on two minds whether this was a real hacking because the damage seems to be limited to the forum only, but obviously I'm changing all passwords etc).

Could they have been reset when the hosting company restored the database shortly after the upgrade? I know there were some lost posts around that time, perhaps there were some settings lost too.

That certainly explains the flooding...

lets hope it is solved on a fairly permanent basis now.

Thanks to everyone who reported about the most recent batch of spam. Good thing it wasn't a flood this time.
Hey, we managed to have almost 5 spam free months?? I might have to go and fiddle with the security questions at the registration form since it looks like they've been cracked. It's a bit tricky to come up with them, because I don't want to limit the participants to only those who have read lots of RH's work, but they shouldn't be too googleable either...
