...you don't go to sleep one night because you have an early 2am start in the car, to make sure that you reach your 1000kms-away destination in time, but discover about three hundred kilometres into the car trip that you have taken a wrong turn in the dark (about two hundred and fifty kilometres prior), and are heading in enitirely the opposite direction with no shortcut from the road you are on to the one that you are *supposed* to be on, due to becoming so involved in your Ship of Magic audiobook... 
As for the wrong road, you've travelled it over and over and over again and know it so well (as well as the right road) that you should have, and would have if you'd been paying any kind of attention, known you were on the wrong road any number of times before your discovery...
