The snow alarm was totally bogus, it stopped snowing after about 2PM, and all the roads were snow (and ice) free when I drove. So instead of 3+ hours in a snow storm I drove 2.5 hours in nice weather. Most dangerous moment was when my eyelids started going southwards at the end of the return drive, but that was fixed by stopping at a gas station and walking around in the fresh (around freezing point) air for a few minutes.
