Nuytsia - actually, I didn't even THINK about people's accents coming into play...a bit narrow-minded of me to assume that everyone should pronounce a word like me simply by virtue of an Aussie accent

Of course, you're right, and now that you bring it up, I can so hear how a Kiwi accent etccan make 'pixie' sound like pecksie and vice-versa!
