My question is, how come the way the ASOIAF characters are depicted in artwork (eg the comis, calendars, etc) always looks fine to me, but the way they have interpreted the look of the characters in the TV show seems wrong to me! Like, what's with Jon Snow's curly hair? Looks like a Spanish pirate or something.

I don't know either, but I must admit I was pretty amused when Robin Hobb made a blog post recently about cutting down her internet time to allow her more quality time to write and someone posted a comment 'send a copy of this post to GRRM! Stat!'

I guess the cynical answer is that it's a good way to make money? Maybe he's lost the passion for writing. I guess you can't force it.
