RE: LOST (spoilers for aired S6 episodes!)
Hey even I found it emotional in several spots!!!! Yeah the Charlie and Claire bit was sweet.
You were spot on with some of your predictions there Mervi!!
I found it quite satisfying - I mean there were only so many directions it could have gone in, and I think the likelihood it was something COMPLETELY unexpected was fairly remote. To have been completely unexpected it would have had to be something ridiculous I think.

RE: LOST (spoilers for aired S6 episodes!)
Well, I saw the finale yesterday. Thankfully, there were no errors this time and I was able to see everything. I'm posting this without having read the rest of this thread, mind you...
I have mixed feelings about it all. Sure, it was big and epic, we got closure for the characters. But the flash sideways stuff? They were all dead? Why does the afterlife (Or purgatory, I guess I should say) take the form of a life in which they never crashed? Does this kind of thing happen to everyone or just the people who were on the island? Did it exist before they detonated the bomb? It just bothers me.
I did like how the final shot reflected the first one. Everything has come full circle.
You lose the game.

I think the explanation from Jack's dad was that the afterlife (or "inbetween" if I may borrow a term from the Lovely Bones) was what their minds created together, because these were the most important people in their entire lives. So, in a sense, other flashsideways/inbetween worlds might exist for other people (or maybe they all exist together, after all, "there's no here, now") but this what they as a group imagined. And the reason they never crashed in that world is that they are all trying to "fix" things that went wrong in their lives, but they need to learn to let go of all the pain: the plane that crashed, the relationships gone wrong etc. That's why Jack has a son he never "really" had - he wants to prove to himself that he would have been a better father than his own father was. Ben wants to fix his relationship with Danielle and Alex, and to be a better person at work as well. Hurley wants to do good things and be liked even though he's a millionaire etc.
Well, that's one interpretation of it.
"Come, join your kin and lend strength to the weaker ones. Together, together, we journey, back to our beginnings and our endings. Gather, shore-born creatures of the sea, to return to the shores yet again. Bring your dreams of sky and wings; come to share the memories of our lives. Our time is come, our time is come."
