I've just seen the latest tweet (see above or the main news page for the original source) and near squealed with delight.<br />
<br />
<blockquote><cite>Quote:</cite>cabri OH! Before I forget to say, @robinhobb read an excerpt from her upcoming YA novel ("Silent" if not changed). Best reading of @ConFusionMI.</blockquote>
<br />
Did anyone here go to ConFusion to verify details/fill us all in eg when we can expect it to be released? I can't find anything on it anywhere so possibly it was a nice little treat just for ConFusion-goers...and the rest of us will have to cool our heels and wait.<br />

If you hear anything, please let us know. <img src="images/smilies/slurp.gif" style="vertical-align: middle;" border="0" alt="Slurp" title="Slurp" />]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[<span style="font-weight: bold;">City of Dragons - Chapter One Excerpt</span><br />
<br />
G'day and well met from Australia! <br />
<br />
While I (Farseer) am well known to most users of the forums, especially after having helped Mervi with mod duties for the last twelve months, I am new to the 'main news page' side of things and so thought a quick introduction may be in order. From now on, I will be helping with updates on here, as well as within the forums, so you will see me here from time-to-time. That all having been said, onward to the updates...<br />
<br />
Following their previous release of the prologue for City of Dragons, the upcoming third Rain Wild Chronicles novel, HarperVoyager has recently posted a follow-up pdf file of the <a href="http://harpervoyagerbooks.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/CityOfDragons_Ch1.pdf" target="_blank">first chapter</a>.<br />
<br />
Also, over on HarperCollins, you can now <a href="http://www.harpercollins.com/browseinside/index.aspx?isbn13=9780061561634" target="_blank">browse</a> through City of Dragons, previewing snippets up to the end of the third chapter, as well as other goodies. <br />
<br />
Enjoy!<br />
<br />

			<description><![CDATA[<span style="text-decoration: underline;">Two suggestions on things I've noticed:</span><br />
<br />
<span style="color: #FF0000;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">1.</span></span></span> No matter what page you're on in the Forums, if you type in your Username/Password in the horizontal fields at the top, it always spits you to the Main Forum page after login.<br />
<br />
This is especially frustrating when I'm 7 pages deep in a thread I accessed from an Email Link (and thus don't remember in which sub-forum it was housed), and I want to reply, so I log in and BAM.. thread gone. Back to Forum Home page. <img src="images/smilies/ouch.gif" style="vertical-align: middle;" border="0" alt="Ouch" title="Ouch" /><br />
<br />
Any plans to have that changed so it keeps you on your current page after login? Please? Lol <img src="images/smilies/flowers.gif" style="vertical-align: middle;" border="0" alt="Flowers" title="Flowers" /><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;">aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand while this next one doesn't bother me so much, I figured it was worth a mention:</span><br />
<br />
<span style="color: #FF0000;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">2.</span></span></span> Thread subscription emails &#x26; spoilers. If someone replies to a thread to which you're subscribed and happen to start OUT their reply with a spoiler tag, the email notification you receive doesn't show the Spoiler warning with the "Click Here" thing. It actually shows the beginning of the spoiler tag ITSELF along with the spoiler information that's supposed to be hidden.<br />
<br />
Example (without real spoilers):<br />
<br />
<span style="color: #1E90FF;">'thul has just replied to a thread which you have subscribed to at thePlenty.net Forums. This thread is titled A Song of Ice and Fire discussion.<br />
<br />
Here is an excerpt of the message:<br />

[spoiler]Here is where the 'thul beings or someone else will type their spoilers which will so conveniently be hidden on the forums but when you get the email.... (visit the thread to read more..)<br />

While reading the rain wild chronicles, I read Rapskals trips to Kelsingra. Rapskal get's blamed by that woman (whathername) for making a fire and ruining that map. I was very excited to notice that verity had been here on his quest to find the Elderlings! Who noticed this? And please, I am a huge fan of the series, but have no idea how this network works, connect me to some huge theories (also unnoticed things!) plz!]]></description>

I'm at chapter 10 right now, and so far I like it. Most important stuff that has happened so far (includes detailed spoilers! Don't say I didn't warn you!):<br />
<br />
<div><div class="spoiler_header">Not spoiling the story, just general information <a href="javascript:void(0);" onclick="javascript:if(parentNode.parentNode.getElementsByTagName('div')[1].style.display=='block'){parentNode.parentNode.getElementsByTagName('div')[1].style.display='none';this.innerHTML='(Click to View)';}else {parentNode.parentNode.getElementsByTagName('div')[1].style.display='block';this.innerHTML='(Click to Hide)';}">(Click to View)</a></div><div class="spoiler_body" style="display: none;">
- There's almost definitive proof that Fitz was in Kelsingra: Alise finds a map room with a broken window and signs of a fire. Technically this probably isn't 100% proof, but it's enough for me.<br />
- We get to see the Duke of Chalced for the first time. He's as charming as expected.</div></div><div><div class="spoiler_header">Plot developments, heavy spoiler alert! <a href="javascript:void(0);" onclick="javascript:if(parentNode.parentNode.getElementsByTagName('div')[1].style.display=='block'){parentNode.parentNode.getElementsByTagName('div')[1].style.display='none';this.innerHTML='(Click to View)';}else {parentNode.parentNode.getElementsByTagName('div')[1].style.display='block';this.innerHTML='(Click to Hide)';}">(Click to View)</a></div><div class="spoiler_body" style="display: none;">
- Sintara was the second dragon to fly, although her flight ended in the water. Whether she drowns is revealed in one of the next chapters.<br />
- Malta is still pregnant.<br />
- Leftrin went back to Cassarick.<br />
- Selden Vestrit is held captive and is probably being sold to the Duke of Chalced.<br />
- Rapskal and Thymara nearly drowned in memories, but Thymara was 'rescued' by Sintara's botched flight.</div></div>]]></description>

Back in 2003 Martin was touring the states doing signings and conventions and reading chapters from his next book. Back then he didn't know it would be split in to two (AFFC and ADWD). Attendees of these events would take 'notes' and post their synopsis on the forums for anyone to read. Turns out some of those chapters were to be delayed for Book 5 and were only viewed in their entirety this year when Book 5 came out. Spoiler chapters known for 8 years and it still did not take away from the enjoyment of actually reading it in it's natural place.<br />
<br />
So I'll be diving right in to this sample chapter.....   now!  <img src="images/smilies/yay.gif" style="vertical-align: middle;" border="0" alt="Yay" title="Yay" />]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[I decided to leave this thread title somewhat vague because now we'll be able to use it for years to come (since that's how long it will take the book to actually be released). The REAL purpose for creating this thread is to let those of you know GRRM has just posted a Sample Chapter from The Winds of Winter (Book 6 of asoiaf) on his official website.<br />

Don't go clicking this link if you don't want to read it or be spoiled:<br />

I hope you all had a peacefull and relaxing christmas with a bit of time for yourself and for reading <img src="images/smilies/smiling.gif" style="vertical-align: middle;" border="0" alt="Smiling" title="Smiling" />.<br />
Poking at Amazon today, I found the preannouncement of the german translation of Dragon Haven for july 2012. Strange enough the german title is "Drachenkämpfer", which means "Dragon Fighter". Nothing to do with the original title. Also the cover is as fanciless as the cover of the german translation of Dragon Keeper. <br />
Look yourself<br />

			<description><![CDATA[Hello and sorry for my long abscence from these boards. Real Life has a way of catching up with you. I was hoping that we could recapitulate here what we've read this year, what books we recommend... and what books we don't. Here's my list, mostly alphabethically sorted. A few of these books exist only in Dutch. I have put a translation of the title in square brackets.<br />

Katherine Kurtz: <span style="font-style: italic;">Deryni Checkmate</span><br />
Katherine Kurtz: <span style="font-style: italic;">High Deryni</span><br />
Henry Kuttner: <span style="font-style: italic;">The Dark World</span><br />
David Langford: <span style="font-style: italic;">Different Kinds of Darkness</span><br />
Megan Lindholm: <span style="font-style: italic;">Wizard of the Pigeons</span><br />
George R. R. Martin: <span style="font-style: italic;">A Dance with Dragons</span><br />
George R. R. Martin e.a.: <span style="font-style: italic;">Inside Straight</span><br />
George R. R. Martin e.a: <span style="font-style: italic;">Busted Flush</span><br />
George R. R. Martin e.a: <span style="font-style: italic;">Suicide Kings</span><br />
Karen Miller: <span style="font-style: italic;">Empress</span><br />
Karen Miller: <span style="font-style: italic;">The Riven Kingdom</span><br />
Karen Miller: <span style="font-style: italic;">Hammer of God</span><br />
Monaldi &#x26; Sorti: <span style="font-style: italic;">Versluiering</span> [Veiling]<br />
C. L. Moore: <span style="font-style: italic;">Black God's Kiss</span><br />

Robert B. Wintermute: <span style="font-style: italic;">The Quest for Karn</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-weight: bold;">TOP THREE</span><br />
1. George R. R. Martin: <span style="font-style: italic;">A Dance with Dragons</span> - It took him six years to write this book. Was it worth the wait? Absolutely. But now I want the next book - I don't know how much longer I can bear these cliffhangers.<br />
2. Robin Hobb: <span style="font-style: italic;">Shaman's Crossing</span> and sequels - Didn't I say this was my least favorite of Robin Hobb's works? Yes, but that doesn't mean it's all bad. Hobb is still one of my favorite writers.<br />
3. Richard Morgan: <span style="font-style: italic;">The Steel Remains</span> - A very intense book that had me hooked from start to finish. Although I did come to hate the excessive foulmouthedness after a while.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-weight: bold;">FLOP THREE</span><br />
1. Robert B. Wintermute: <span style="font-style: italic;">The Quest for Karn</span> - After discovering Keith Baker, I didn't think I would run into another author that bad any time soon. I was wrong. Wintermute is worse in every aspect.<br />
2. Keith Baker: <span style="font-style: italic;">The Gates of Night</span> - Baker still sucks, though.<br />
3. Karen Miller: <span style="font-style: italic;">Hammer of God</span> - After an interesting start to the trilogy, this book didn't have the pay-off I was waiting for.]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[In lieu of the fact the <a href="http://forums.theplenty.net/showthread.php?tid=114&#x26;page=11" target="_blank">Best Move you've Ever Seen</a> thread has re-surfaced, I thought I'd start a similar thread, but about Directors!<br />
<br />
I love movies.. and typically when I find a director I love, I stick with him/her. So here are my top favs, along with some of the best movies (in my opinion) they made. Hope you enjoy! <img src="images/smilies/innocent.gif" style="vertical-align: middle;" border="0" alt="Innocent" title="Innocent" /><br />
<br />
<ul>
<li><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Darren Aronofsky</span></span><br />
- True, he doesn't have as large of a filmography as some Directors in my list, but there isn't a bad one among them. *swoon<br />
<span style="font-style: italic;">Pi. <br />
The Wrestler. <br />
Black Swan. <br />
The Fountain.</span></li>
<li><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">David Lynch</span></span><br />
- What's better than his ethereal and bizarre take on the Dreamworld in almost everything he does? Yes and yes please.<br />
<span style="font-style: italic;">Twin Peaks. <br />
Mulholland Drive. <br />
Inland Empire. <br />
Blue Velvet.</span></li>
<li><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">John Carpenter</span></span><br />
- A Who's Who among horror and sci-fi film lovers. The minimal approach, the heightened suspense and the other-wordly music in his films makes them among my absolute favorite! Just seeing this list of movies makes me want to curl up on the couch when I get home. Love.<br />
<span style="font-style: italic;">Assault on Precinct 13. <br />
Escape from New York. <br />
The Thing (!!!!!). <br />
Big Trouble in Little China. <br />
They Live.</span></li>
<li><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Martin Scorsese</span></span><br />
- Does this man even need an introduction? Of course not. He's a god among Directors. <br />
<span style="font-style: italic;">Taxi Driver.  <br />
Goodfellas.  <br />
Casino.  <br />
Gangs of New York. <br />
The Aviator.</span></li>
<li><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Roman Polanski</span></span><br />
- Regardless of the scandal, you have to admit this guy gets it right almost every time. His sweeping tales make you forget where you are in time as you plunge head-first in the world he wants you to see. <br />
<span style="font-style: italic;">The Pianist.  <br />
Chinatown.  <br />
Rosemary's Baby.  <br />
The Ninth Gate.  <br />
The Ghost Writer.</span></li>
<li><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Peter Jackson</span></span><br />
- I couldn't make this list without adding the guy who brought my favorite tale to life. I know you know him, but did you know he was a great campy-horror director back in the day, too? Not only did he stay as true as he could (and the scale of it, the SCALE!) to Tolkien's work, he made some bizarro and great 80s flicks.<br />
<span style="font-style: italic;">Lord of the Rings Trilogy.<br />
Meet the Feebles. (not kid-friendly!)<br />
Heavenly Creatures.<br />
Bad Taste.<br />
King Kong.</span><br />
</li></ul>
<br />
Okay.  <img src="images/smilies/proud.gif" style="vertical-align: middle;" border="0" alt="Proud" title="Proud" />   YOUR TURN!!!!]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[Due to the long posts on Gluten currently over at Robin's newsgroup, and hearing your story Farseer, I thought I'd post a blog from a cardiologist who wrote a really good book on why Gluten is bad for everyone, not just those who are allergic or sensitive to it. <img src="images/smilies/smiling.gif" style="vertical-align: middle;" border="0" alt="Smiling" title="Smiling" /><br />
<br />
There's a pretty good Recipe list here, too!!!<br />

			<description><![CDATA[A little Christmas message to you from Robin, via her site:<br />
<br />
<blockquote><cite>Quote:</cite>We have Shaman’s Crossing on sale in e-book form for &#36;1.99!!<br />
 <br />
So, if you haven’t finished your holiday shopping, and want to introduce a friend to one of my books, I’d be honored! Or if you want a fireside read for yourself over the holidays or if you suspect one of those ‘surprise’ gifts for you might be an e-reader, this is an opportunity to step into my world for &#36;1.99 and see what you think of it.<br />
 <br />
Merry Christmas!</blockquote>
<br />
Here is the <a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/book/shamans-crossing/id360604352?mt=11" target="_blank">link</a> for i-device users or for <a href="http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/shamans-crossing-robin-hobb/1103266124?ean=9780061793356&#x26;itm=1&#x26;usri=shamna%27s+crossing" target="_blank">Barnes &#x26; Noble</a> .<br />
<br />
From what I can gather from someone on the Newsgroup though, it is only available to readers from the US? If you find that it's otherwise, please let us all know - thanks! <img src="images/smilies/smiling.gif" style="vertical-align: middle;" border="0" alt="Smiling" title="Smiling" />]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[I just noticed that the user-title levels we gain determined on post-count goes through the different names for Fitz.<br />
<br />
It just made me cry thinking about it (Maybe I should add this to the 'emotions' thread? Hah <img src="images/smilies/smiling.gif" style="vertical-align: middle;" border="0" alt="Smiling" title="Smiling" /> ). I believe all I've seen are the following:<br />
<br />
newboy<br />
fitz<br />
changer<br />
-<br />
-<br />
-<br />
-<br />
-<br />
beloved<br />
<br />
Where can I see a full list!?  <img src="images/smilies/blushing.gif" style="vertical-align: middle;" border="0" alt="Blushing" title="Blushing" />]]></description>

<blockquote><cite>Quote:</cite>Hephaestus books, on Barnes&#x26;Noble and on Amazon.com, has a listing for a book called The Novels of Robin Hobb. Please don't be deceived that all my novels will fit into a 42 page paperback. It does not state it clearly, but this is actually a collection of wikipedia articles that are available for free on line. Not my novels and not my publisher! Caveat Emptor!<br />
<br />
Please don't hesitate to spread the word. They're doing this to a number of authors. I hate to see readers ripped off.</blockquote>
