If I start reading books and they are not up to the standard of Hobb or Martin, I simply don't read them.

LOL, that's a tough standard to keep. Shortly after reading all the robin hobb books I found George RR Martin and after that I was ruined as well. I quit reading a lot of books halfway through because nothing was as good as those two.
