Yep, Valarya, I suspect we may be singing from the same hymn sheet on that one! I'm still all of a-fluster!

And as for the ending, well, cliff hanger is an understatement! How long do we have to wait for the next installment?!

With GRRM, there's no telling how long we'll have to wait.

Altho, to be fair, the reason book 5 took so long is because of the "Mereneese Knot," so Martin called it. He couldn't figure out how to advance Dany's story (which I think is quite obvious in the whole book) so he did a lot of re-writing.

Also, as of the beginning of Book 5, he still wasn't sure how the story would end - completely. Now, he knows. AND he has an HBO show creeping up on him, lol. I suspect it won't be any longer than 3 years, at the most.

In regards to the end of the book:

WARNING! ADWD ending spoilers!

- When Jon was stabbed I actually threw the book across the room and paced my living room for 10 minutes bawling, saying "No, no, no, no, no..." over and over. I couldn't believe he did it.. and then I could. When I thought about it a bit more I realized there's no way Jon can die. This is MARTIN we're talking about here. Jon will probably go in to Ghost, and Melisandre will give him the kiss of life, and he will be whole again. Makes me wonder the implications that will have, though. Since he "died" does that mean his Oath no longer applies?
Since there was a Red Star (on one of the Knight's clothing), Salt (from his brothers' tears as they stabbed him) and Smoke (from his wound).. he might even be reborn as Azor Ahai.

- The entire book you wait for Tyrion and Dany to meet and the chapter where they're FINALLY in the same spot @ the same time... what happens? Drogon shows up and freaking carries Dany away! Hahaha! That was a giant "YES!!!!!!!!!!!" moment.
Dany running in to Khal Drogo's old buddy-from-the-Khalasar at the end there, also helps fulfill the prophecy that "In order to go forward, you must go back." Pretty neat!
