These beings came across a vampire-themed anthology with a rather nice little treat... another story based in the same world as the alternate history story "anno dracula".

Not all the stories in it were as good... but still, quite decent... (anthology name: The Vampire sextette)

Started 'The book of earth', the first book in 'The dragon quartet' by Marjorie B. Kellogg. A bit too environmentalist (man is evil, nature is being killed by us, naughty naughty!) from time to time, but overall very enjoyable. I really like Erde.

The Handmaid's Tale was a dystopian gem and a strange foretelling of the future. Recommended. Now reading Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell..a massive book that's gonna take some time to read!
