Next on the list: Nana 21. A Japanese manga about two girls, both called Nana (seven in Japanese) who are totally different but end up living together. Somewhat soap-y, but I really like several of the characters (especially 'punk-Nana').

Sounds intriguing...might have to look into it myself!

You're actually right there: while I am enjoying myself, I find it hard to get very ethusiastic about it all. A tree looks the same in France or in Holland, with the exception that France has hills, which makes for a beautiful landscape but it can be tiresome to climb. Holland, on the other hand, is flat. I mean really flat. The landscape doesn't look as good, but I like how you can actually do stuff like bicycling there, which we don't do here in France.

Never been to Limburg? It's very hilly here, with some steep climbs (Eijserbosweg has a few hundred meters over 10%, with peaks of 15%, Cauberg is several hundred meters around 10%).

Rarely. Yeah, I'll concede your point, but Limburg is the exception of course.

I've just finished reading The Infernal City: An Elder Scrolls Novel, by Gregory Keyes. I must say, it was very good. Even if you haven't played the video game Oblivion I think you could enjoy it. He managed to make a perfect match between elements from the game, while not making any twists or plot holes around their main story.

The story itself was very interesting and original (although I didn't know it was part 1 of two books - boohoo!) It was also well written and contained such delightfull sentences as; "Another flaming chunk of beast fell past him."

I didn't know this but apparently this author specialises in writing books set in someone else's worlds. Robin Hobb has something to say about that. He wrote books based on Star Wars and on Babylon 5, and the latter are apperently considered to be the bests written around those series.
I can't make up my mind whether I'm for these sort of books or not, all I know is that I thoroughly enjoyed reading a story set in the Elder Scrolls world.

Before that I read the first book of Pern from Anne McCaffrey, but they're not my sort of thing. Too many politics. But each to their own and I can see why they're enjoyable for other people.

As long as the quality is good, I think it's fine and quite fun to be able to relate it to a game you've played.

For some reason I'm not all that interested in ones based on movies or TV so far.... no idea why not!

Albertosaurus flat land is in short supply around here. The mountains are so steep the sun goes down at 2.30pm in midwinter...

There are quite many good books based on the games by blizzard entertainment (Diablo, Warcraft & Starcraft). These beings would recommend reading those books.

There was a time that I read a lot books based on the Magic: the Gathering cardgame. Most weren't very good, though. Jeff Grubb's books were genrally excellent and Scott McGough and J. Robert King had both some good and some bad stuff set in the MtG universe.

There was also this trilogy based on Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri that I've read. That wasn't very good. So one day I decided to stop read tie-in novels for a while. (Although I am curious about the long out of print King's Quest-based trilogy.)

EDIT: I'm almost halfway through The Count of Monte Cristo now. It's a real book of its time - there's a lot of good stuff in there, but also long sections where you keep wondering where the heck the plot is going, like the lengthy section about the carnival in Rome.
