It reached 52C here today (which equates to about 126F but we only use Celsius here in Australia), and it's only going to get hotter...

It's around 5C here at the moment and hideously windy again! I looked like I'd been dragged through a hedge backwards by the time I got to work today..my unfortunately curly hair and the wind don't get on at all!

A comfortable -4C here. A bit too warm, though. -10C to -15C is better.

A bit too warm? Far too cold! It is unseasonably mild for the time of year over here..something to do with westerly winds I think.

when temperatures are stable around -10C, there is rather little snowfall. Having temperatures above -2C or so generally means that there is a high risk of rain, and rain is no fun at all.

Though, surely at -2C or so, it would fall as snow?

Normally yes, but when a thermometer says -2, it does not mean that it is that temperature everywhere in the area. -2 might be a bit too severe, though. Temperatures around 0C generally mean that the ground is potentially very slippery, so they should be avoided. Thus -10C is a nice temperature.
