Megan Lindholm books reprinted

Some books by Megan Lindholm are getting reprinted! And they made the right choice by me - those are the titles I haven't been able to get my hands on (except for Cloven Hooves - why not reprint that one too?). I have to wonder about one thing, though - the books appaer to have a new ISBN and Amazon doesn't show the cover, so... do they have new cover art? I hope not, because I loved the old cover art.

I'm defnitely getting a new Alien Earth, mine is an old library copy.

I'm wondering whether these will be mass-market paperbacks (larger in size) or whether they just used a different font - the number of pages information that is up at amazon doesn't match with the latest paperback editions. Also the cover they have up for Alien Earth is not the one used in the 2002 reprint but what seems to be similar to what I think is the 1993 edition.

That is an odd selection Why not do them all? I wouldn't buy only part 3 of a series.

Well Sini, don't tell anyone, but I only discovered Hobb in the summer of 2002. By the time I got around reading Lindholm a couple of years later it wasn't available anymore. My copy is from eBay and originally from the Falkirk library. I wouldn't mind the fact that it's 2nd hand (first of all I love books with history, and let's face it, many of my Hobb books are 2nd hand as well) but since it's paperback and a library book it just doesn't look fine enough for my collection.

I didn't discover Hobb until 2008 and I have not read any Lindholm yet. Which book would you recommend I start with?

The Lindholm books that I have read are Harpy's Flight, The Windsingers, The Reindeer People, Wolf's Brother and The Gypsy. (Luck of the Wheels lies unread on my shelf because I haven't been able to obtain The Limbreth Gate. What that in mind, here goes...

The Reindeer People / Wolf's Brother duology is very good. It's really one novel broken in two, so be sure to have both parts in hand before you start reading. Don't except a typical fantasy tale, though.

I liked Harpy's Flight, although it's use of flasbacks was a bit jarring at times. In the beginning, I didn't always realise when the story jumped back in time. I wasn't very fond of The Windsingers. Don't really know why, I just am not.

The Gypsy is terrible. Just terrible. The authors both write that they had a lot of fun together - well, they had more fun than I did.

According to Amazon.co.uk, the pagecounts are the same as Voyager's 2002 reprints. The Alien Earth image is weird, though - one would think that would, like the 2002 version, prominently state that Megan Lindholm also writes as Robin Hobb.

I have written about these books to Voyager UK. I got this reply:

I can confirm these new titles are due to be published in August. They will be priced at £7.99 and are the standard paperback.

Unfortunately we do not have a copy of the covers yet but if you would like to log on to our website this will give full details of these titles.

In fact, Voyager's website only lists Harpy's Flight and The Reindeer People, and no other books by Lindholm. Ah well, we'll just have to wait and see...

Only just after discovering Hobb myself so I fear it'll be another few years before I've to worry about which versions of Lindholm books to get....just trying to decide now whether to start buying the hardbacks or paperbacks of Hobb ones:

If you're looking for English language hbs of Hobb, be prepared to pay dearly for the first trilogy as those are rare and hard to find.

Has anyone actually managed to get the reprints already? Amazon UK still doesn't show the covers and informs me that they will be shipped between 7 and 12 days. Dutch bookstores, both online and offline, do not list the books, while they usually have no trouble at all getting english-language books.
