What movie/s are you watching?

For some reason I don't think I could even bring myself to watch if there were ever a movie based on the RoTE! Well maybe the rain wilds books I wouldn't mind so much but I don't think I could wrap my mind around any actors playing Fitz and especially the Fool. I think someone mentioned (in the comic thread??) they don't like to see pictures of characters in books as they never match what they had in mind. I don't normally mind at least seeing others interpretations, but in this case I know what that person meant!

Hmmm Cate Blanchett? Well I cannot give you a better person, but I wouldn't like to see a woman in the role (or anyone). Off topic WHY did she speak so damn slowly as Galadriel? It annoyed me. Although not as much as Hugo Weaving..... I still loved the movies.

Oh, I loved the Matrix movies and especially Hugo Weaving. "Why, Mr. Anderson, why? Why do you persist?" Brilliant!

My personal favorite film is the Shawnshank Redemption. It is also the only film I know which is better then the book. Granted, the original was only a short story, but still the plot of the film is much better interwoven then that of the book.

I must admit to not liking the Lord Of the Rings films very much. Very good adaptation, certainly, maybe the best ever given the complexity of the book, the multitude of characters and the difficulty you face turning that into a film script. But the director could have done with a good kick. Half of those films are in slow-motion! There is so much slow-motion in there that the films could collectively have been over an hour shorter, had they cut out all the unnecessary slow-motion. I'm all for giving stories time to tell themselves, heck, the film I mentioned above has one of the slowest paces of any film I know, but slow-motion is a dramatic style which should be used sparingly to over-dramatize only the most important moments. The LOTR films even have slow-motion in the middle of a battle.

Sorry, I don't mean to ruin your enjoyment of the films or put down your favorite entertainment... it just gets under my skin. It might be a bit of a pet-peeve of mine.

I loved The Matrix!!!! Not so much the others after it, but the original certainly. Love the action sequences and music .... yeah!
Maybe that's what irked me about Hugo Weaving's voice in LoTR - it kind of reminded me him in Matrix!!!! Also I thought gees I thought elves in LoTR all looked young (my boyfriend said oh well he's REALLY old and he's only a HALF elf .... i thought there really was no such thing in LoTR you are one or the other even if your parents are one of each)

I actually hadn't noticed there was so much slow-motion in LoTR movies! I'll have to have another look at the DvD

I really like Shawnshank Redemption as well, Chrischa! It's up there with movies like Schindler's List etc in my 'All-time Favourites' list.

I never really got into the Matrix movies (actually I hated them and am disgusted my son wants to wear a Matrix-inspired suit to his high school formal this year...the big question is, will I let him?!). I also have to admit that Hugo Weaving is one of my least favourite actors, right next to Guy Pearce...which is really sad, seeing as they're both Aussies!

As far as the Lord of the Rings MOVIES go, I hereby must confess that pretty much my entire focus was concentrated on Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn , and not so much on the book to film adaptation, or even the film itself *gasp*!!

As well as The Man from Snowy River, I remember The Power of One being a favourite movie when I was a kid but I've never been able to source a copy so I could view it again as an adult. I did purchase the book quite a few years ago though and I really enjoyed it, along with its sequel, Tandia. If only I could compare the book and film versions...

Tilda Swinton would be another good choice, IMO.

I don't really have a 'favourite' movie. I've seen lots of good movies, and choosing a list will only lead to 'oh, I forgot this one! And this one!'.

I've never watched the LotR movies, since I can't watch those movies without comparing them to the books, which would only lead to a disappointment.

Hmmm to add to the list - I really liked Viggo M as Strider but I didn't like him as much as Aragorn - not really what I had in mind as a King. Not 100% sure why!!!!

I loved Priscilla (well of course) and the other Australian movie that I loved was Gettin Square (totally different movie) - but I really am not sure how that would be for someone who isn't Australian (then again I am constantly wrong about how Australian humour will be understood by those who aren't Australian!)
