THul The Vampire Lestat is actually in this man's opinion the best of the vampire books that Anne Rice wrote....

Although the mention of the movies always makes think of that line from the film BOWFINGER
Robert K. Bowfinger: Did you know Tom Cruise had no idea he was in that vampire movie till two years later?

The Vampire Lestat concerns itself with the story of Lestat...his vampire birth and unlife leading up to the events that occurred in Interview with the Vampire. In Interview Lestat is relegated to villain status...He's not.

A man's work is nothing but this slow trek to rediscover, through the detours of art, those two or three great and simple images in whose presence his heart first opened.

ahh... That puts things into perspective...

These beings had never really considered him a true villain. too many of the pieces for that did not fit...

Note:
when 'thul write in all italics, it is the lord of the three realms within 'thul speaking. A fairly egoistical, but also somewhat simple-minded dragon. Do not take such posts at face value.

I'll never know why they cast Tom Cruise in that role. Lestat was, amongst other things, tall and as I read more, everything Tom Cruise is not! And while I'm at it, Brad Pitt is not Louis. They are not vampire! Minor rant there, sorry! The books are excellent though.

Finished an online story 'Charlotte's movie' today. Probably won't interest any of you (it's an erotica story) but it was a well-written story about two kids who want to make a porn movie, and who change (and change others) by doing this.

Just finished Starfish, going to read Northwest of Earth by C. L. Moore now, a collection of Moore's classic Northwest Smith stories.

And I'm nearing the end of The Quest for Karn... mercifully.

Yup, just finished The Quest for Karn. Wintermute might be an even worse writer than Keith Baker and Vance Moore combined. Just lettin' you know.

Just wondering if anyone has read anything by Chris Adrian (Gob's Grief, The Children's Hospital). He's getting really great press here for his latest book, The Great Night. His stuff sounds gut-wrenching, and pretty fantastical (ranging from alternative history to time travel to end times). I'm wavering between taking the plunge with an e-book or test-driving first with a library book. Also, some reviews I read made me wonder if this is Christian lit, which I am NOT looking for. Anybody got the goods on this guy?

I am not familiar with the author, but let me ask you: what exactly do you consider to be Christian lit? Is it fiction written by Christian authors? I've been told that Robin Hobb is actually catholic, does that make her books Christian lit? Or do you mean people who use their books to spread a Christian message, like C. S. Lewis? Personally, the message doesn't bother me, it's about skillfull writing and most of all: subtlety.

Not sure if I can describe explicitly what I mean by "Christian lit", and I certainly don't want to offend anyone here with my ignorance on the subject. I don't care what religion an author is. My concern about Chris Adrian stems from the fact that the Children's Hospital is basically a Noah's Ark story, so I'm wondering if it's going to be all about the coming rapture/end times and if it will have a strongly religious bent throughout, which to me is not particularly of interest.
