Well, I finished The Steel Remains earlier today. It's a brutal, violent book, but I did enjoy it quite a lot. One of the things that got on my nerves, though, was how foulmouthed it was. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a prude or easily offended, but if every fucking character talks this way the whole fucking book, the fucking word quickly loses any meaning and is just there to fill some fucking space. Every character during the whole book, got that, motherfucker?
Reading the book, I had a flashback to Ship of Destiny. You know the instance I'm talking about:
One instance of the word in an 800-page book and it was so much more meaningful than it was in TSR. The sequel, The Cold Commands, is coming out next month, but I'm going to wait for the paperback and read some of Richard Morgan's SF novels in the meantime.
