Been a while since 'thul read the books, but that image gives the feeling of being too "nice" to be kennit. Too kind-looking. Not that Kennit is truly cruel. a truly cruel character is gothmog.

Note:
when 'thul write in all italics, it is the lord of the three realms within 'thul speaking. A fairly egoistical, but also somewhat simple-minded dragon. Do not take such posts at face value.

True. Rather poor vision on the left eye.

Not sure about Gothmog Smiling but it's interesting what you say regarding Kennit. He was born as a Liveship Trader's son, and raised with a certain 'Trader something'? He retained this something even after his time with Igrot...if anything, he used this Trader heritage to pull himself out of the role of 'the victim' to work toward his 'King Kennit' goal?

He came across to me as the proverbial wolf in sheep's clothing. He exuded charm, wit, good looks, intelligence, sophistication and a royal-like aloofness, and commanded respect in an entirely different way to someone such as Burrich. Even though he was vain, he didn't like to appear 'soft', and thus hated his blue eyes for this reason...and this makes me think that even Kennit thought he looked too nice. Pirate

Still, I would agree that Jason Isaacs does seem to lack a bit of rogue or something...Undecided...I will just have to watch Hook one day and see him in such a role. I'm also not very happy that I will now have him stuck in my head when I eventually get to my LST re-read! Down

these beings get the feeling that the role you pictured there is too "innocent" to fit kennit.

if you mix his looks up with a little of the looks on the guy in top left of this image, you might be closer. There is too little anger in the pure image of Jason Isaacs.
Kennit isnt beyond hurting people because he can, but that is because of how he was raised, not because he is that way by nature.

The stories with Captain Hook are meant for younger children than other pirate stories, so the pirates in them are far kinder than true pirates would have been.

Though the dress style and such on hook will not fit kennit, simply because the era of RotE is not the same as the typical "pirate" era. the typical "pirate" era is well after firearms are the primary weapons, whereas in RotE, even rudimentary explosives are still experimental, and cannons/guns do not even exist as concepts.

True, true, 'thul beings. I see what you mean, yes.

Yes, I agree re dress style. I had to work hard trying to disconnect the face and hair from the attire!

Appealing to the eye, nonetheless P

Shallowness aside, I think you're right, he's not really Kennit. Too 'nice.'

Of all the artist's conceptions of the Fool/Beloved/Amber/Lord Golden out there on the net, this is the one I feel is the best and most looks like what I myself picture as being the Fool:

And I have it on a t-shirt!  Wub

And here is Thymara:

I've yet to find one that does Queen Malta justice.  I wish I could draw really well--I would draw the entire elderling crew!  Wub
As for Chade, I could only see him as Tywin Lannister:

Tilda Swinton really does make a convincing Fool.  Has anyone here ever seen the film Orlando or read the book by Virginia Woolfe?  I've yet do either but I've seen stills from the film and read about it . . and this character really does embody very essence of The Fool, ""Orlando" is about a person who achieves in one lifetime what most of us can only dream of doing: viewing four centuries of experiences through the eyes of both sexes. Obviously it is a very long and unusual lifetime. Born as a man in the time of Elizabeth I, Orlando becomes a woman midway in the journey."  Surrender
