@Gielske - did you really just say that the Lord of the Rings Dutch translated names for 'Merry' and 'Pippin' are 'Lively' and 'Dot?' Hahahah, that's BAD. I couldn't imagine attempting to sort-out theory threads or long discussions threads when everyone is using a different name for things than what I'm familiar with. Divvytown isn't Divvytown?

@Valarya: Nee, de vertaalde naam van Merry is Merijn, en van Pippin is Pepijn. Die namen hebben helemaal niks met het origineel te maken, maar er zijn slechtere naamvertalingen, nu lijken ze nog een beetje op het origineel. Overigens komt Pippin van de appelsoort, vermoed ik.

Ik vind Merijn en Pepijn niet eens zulke slechte vertalingen. Maar die namen die jullie noemen uit de vertalingen van RH boeken... afschuwelijk. Blijkbaar kan niet elke vertaling zo knap zijn als die van Harry Potter.
