the stains are visible when the book is closed, but not visible on each individual page... (edges only, in other words)
fortunately no page is damaged, nor is there any fluid warping.

Perhaps you should rebuild that cupboard, fool-ish? Get someone to build new supports for it so that it leans backwards making the back of the cupboard have an angle towards the floor of 60 degrees or so. That should prevent such avalanches.

Good idea 'thul'. Will look in to it Smiling

My bookmarks range from using hardback dust covers to my current favourite - the ticket from when I went to see Derren Brown's Svengali show at the Shaftesbury theatre. It's getting a bit battered, but it's surviving, and one that I'm determined not to lose! (for once)

These beings have a bookmark laying around that is at least 8 years old... and innumerable others that vary in age, composition and size.

when 'thul write in all italics, it is the lord of the three realms within 'thul speaking. A fairly egoistical, but also somewhat simple-minded dragon. Do not take such posts at face value.

I'm thinking maybe I should ask a member of my clan for a nice bookmark for christmas..a good sturdy one of course that won't be easily lost. A good book to christen it wouldn't be a bad idea either. I may need to resort to sky-writing or somesuch as a reminder though.

Clan? These beings wonder what sort of clan you refer to. Is it:
A. Gaelic clan?
B. Scottish clan?
C. Clan of cavemen?
D. Clan of barbarians?
E. none of the above?
F. Several of the above?

Big Grin None of the above, though as my immediate clan consists of a husband and two teenagers, cavemen is sometimes appropriate when a grunt from them is considered a reply to a question from me. Still, I expect they receive the same from me when I'm reading. I love'em all really!

One would be surprised about just how many nuances a grunt can have. just a slight variation in tone, length, volume, composition, etc. will change the meaning completely...

Indeed! However, the grunts I'm talking about are of the 'I can't be bothered listening' or 'I'm not interested' variety. They tend to be short and to the point and very annoying when a simple 'yes', 'no' or 'don't know' would suffice. I can't quite believe we're having a conversation about 'grunts' in a thread about bookmarks.

bookmarks and grunts belong together. When someone busy is told to do some chore or other, they often grunt in response and need a bookmark.

Hmm... post #7162 on the forums. How quaint. Especially since it is 'thul's 1000th post here.
